Milla a Winter Queen?

A long ass time ago a project said to be helmed by Paul Verhoeven called THE WINTER QUEEN was in the works. It was a dark period piece thriller set to star Milla Jovovich. Well, after seemingly vanishing off the face of the Earth, word has hit that Russian filmmaker Fyodor Bondarchuk (THE INHABITED ISLAND) has taken the reins, with the project on a fast-track to shoot next April.

Based on the Boris Akunin tome, THE WINTER QUEEN is set:

In 1876, when a young investigator with the Moscow police sets out to solve the apparent suicide of a university student, but soon lands in the middle of a far-reaching international conspiracy.

Looks like it’s still Milla time, as she continues to be attached to play the lead role Amalia Bezhetskaya. Good to see her perhaps go to bat for fellow commie…I mean Russian filmmaker to achieve some likeminded art.

What says YOU about the project?
