Miller cast in Yogi

Add another name to the big screen version of YOGI BEAR.

After a funny and gutsy audition video for the part of Ranger Smith, T.J. Miller nabbed it. Miller was brought into audition twice, then decided to jokingly make a video of him improvising with a live bear, that was directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

The CLOVERFIELD actor, who was most recently seen in EXTRACT was surprised when the chairman of Warner Brothers, Barry M. Meyer, told him he had the role, “I’m excited about this role because they saw the reel and appreciated what a bizarre dude I am.” The video speaks for itself. I can see why the guy landed the part.

The film will be directed by Eric Brevig (JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH). It will be live-action as well as CG animation. So far the cast consists of: Anna Faris, Justin Timberlake as the voice of sidekick Boo-Boo, and Dan Aykroyd voicing lead bear, Yogi. The casting of Aykroyd was not much of a shocker. The guy does a great voice impression of the bear. I just hope that Timberlake doesn’t use an awkward voice for Boo-Boo. Other than that, I’ll be looking forward to a trailer.
