I thought Spike Lee’s WWII movie MIRACLE AT ST. ANNA was about members of an all-black infantry unit caught behind enemy lines in Italy. I had no idea it also involved a magical statue head, but the new trailer has taught me otherwise!
Personally, I prefer Spike’s work when he’s concentrating more on entertaining than hammering a message (INSIDE MAN is one of my favorite movies from the past few years), and this one seems to be walking the line. But hey, the guy can shoot film almost as well as his mouth, and he seems to have a sharp young cast.
