Regardless of how you feel about a MONSTER SQUAD remake, it looks like the project has found a home. And that home is none other than the Mecca of horror remakes, Platinum Dunes.

While it’s been some time since we updated the possibility of a MONSTER SQUAD rehash, it now looks as if the project has been thrust into motion, with P.D. producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form set to oversee the remake alongside original MONSTER SQUAD producer Rob Cohen (so says Deadline New York). Word is the trio is currently in search of writers to flesh out a screenplay. Brad, Andy, Rob…I’m available!

Written by Fred Dekker and Shane Black, the original MONSTER SQUAD revolved around young kids who form a club that is devoted to monsters, but soon get more than they bargained for when Count Dracula adjourns to Earth, accompanied by Frankenstein’s Monster, the Wolfman, the Mummy, and the Gillman. The uglies are in search of a powerful amulet that will grant them power to rule the world. Our heroes – the Monster Squad are the only ones daring to stand in their way. Dekker directed the film to boot.

I’m interested to hear what you all have to say about this development. It seems that if there was one film that played so heavily on the nostalgia of being kid, it would be this one. Do you wanna see those invaluable memories sullied by a needless remake? Do you find the idea of remake needless? Or are you stoked about the whole thing in general? Again, I’d really like to know.

Spill some guts underneath!
