According to the latest Mortal Kombat casting rumor, Charlie Hunnam might need to be fitted for some $500 sunglasses.

That's right, kombatants, the Mortal Kombat rumor mill is belching smoke today, with talk of Hunnam being up for the role of Johnny Cage in New Line's Mortal Kombat sequel. Before we go any further, be sure to take this news with a Goro-sized grain of salt. Talk of Hunnam playing the wise-cracking fighter comes from Daniel Richtman, an industry insider who claims to have a line on this anticipated casting.

Hunnam joins Ryan Reynolds, Chris Pratt, and The Miz as someone being floated for the role. I have my doubts about this rumor, though perhaps Richtman knows something I don't. After all, Hunnam is a big name and knows how to throw hands. He's a blue belt in Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu has been training with Rigan Machado. I could see him making members of Shang-Tsung's camp eat dirt. That said, it's early days yet for Mortal Kombat 2, and I won't believe anything until I see something more official.

Earlier today, it was announced that Mortal Kombat will be released on Blu-ray, 4K Blu-ray, and 4K Blu-ray (SteelBook) + Digital on July 13th. These releases come packed with plenty of special features, which you can check out below:
