Oren Uziel, the writer behind that MORTAL KOMBAT short that just smacked the internet around, is having a good week. Variety reports that the scribe has been tapped to pen JUST ANOTHER LOVE STORY for Mandate Pictures; flick is a remake of Ole Bornedal’s 2007 Danish thriller (a still from which is pictured above).

The story centers on Jonas, a photographer who causes a car accident that leaves Julia, a mysterious stranger, crippled with amnesia. When Julia’s family mistakes him for her boyfriend, Jonas decides to play along, but then must elude the woman’s real boyfriend who is bent on revenge.

Uziel previously wrote SHIMMER LAKE, which was picked up by Fox Atomic, and is also penning the MORTAL KOMBAT feature film. The remake doesn’t have a director attached as of yet, although last year Marc Webb (500 DAYS OF SUMMER) flirted with it before signing on to direct the SPIDER-MAN reboot.
