Darren Lynn Bousman’s MOTHER’S DAY remake is about finished and in the bag, we’re just waiting for distribution to pick a date and release the bastard already. But that doesn’t mean Bousman is getting ready to sit back, relax, and do nothing. Oh no, he has a new movie on the horizon, and it sounds just as twisted and demented as all the films he’s done before it.
Re-teaming with MOTHER’S DAY writer Scott Miliam, Bousman’s next directorial project is going to be a film called NINETY, which goes a little something-something like this: [The film] follows a psychotic killer hoping to set a record by committing 90 murders.
Yes, Bousman is a sick f*ck, but that’s why he love him so much! And just look at the potential body count this flick has. Even if the killer only reaches half his goal, that’s still 45 people getting murdered on the big screen. That should be quite the site to see. But how about seeing it… in 3D???
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bousman will be filming NINETY in 2D in New Mexico with the plan of converting it to 3D in post-production. Yes, 90 murders in the third dimension. I don’t know if the world is ready for that or not… Let’s hope the conversion doesn’t suck assholes like it did with ALICE IN WONDERLAND and CLASH OF THE TITANS. But perhaps it’ll work better now that it’s sorta being filmed for 3D… only in 2D….
Either way, the film sounds like a blast, and I can’t wait to see what else Bousman has up his sleeves. Stick around for more on NINETY as we hear it, and be sure to keep your eyes open for that MOTHER’S DAY release date… it’s bound to happen sooner or later.
MOTHER’S DAY’s Jaime King!
