Cabin in the Woods’ Fran Kranz cast as Pimli in The Dark Tower

THR is reporting that Fran Kranz has been added to the cast of THE DARK TOWER, joining Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Taylor and Jackie Earle Haley. THE CABIN IN THE WOODS and DONNIE DARKO actor will play Pimli, the right-hand man of McConaughey's The Man in Black.

The film adaptation of Stephen King's popular fantasy novel series "will follow a wandering knight (Elba) who is the last hope of the fallen land of Mid-World. He is charged with finding the Dark Tower while battling his nemesis the Man in Black." Production is underway for the movie with A ROYAL AFFAIR helmer Nikolaj Arcel directing from a script he co-wrote with Akiva Goldsman, Jeff Pinkner and Anders Thomas Anderson.

THE DARK TOWER is scheduled to open on February 17, 2017, while Kranz's upcoming films include Phil Allocco's THE TRUTH ABOUT LIES and Karl Mueller's REBIRTH.
