Cary Fukunaga says No Time To Die is done & won’t change despite delay

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The latest 007 entry, NO TIME TO DIE, was one the first film to vacate its release date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally set for release in April, the film was pushed to November 12 and while some studios might use that time to tweak their completed films, director Cary Fukunaga said in a recent Instagram interview that won’t be the case with NO TIME TO DIE.

While there are certain things that Fukunaga would certainly like to brush up on, he seems to be resisting the impulse and says the film is finished as it can be and will likely see no changes ahead of its new release date:

"Although more time would have been lovely, we had to put our pencils down when we finished our post-production window."

When another fan persisted in asking whether the director would not like to add a bit more ‘polish’ to the film in all the extra time the production team now has, Fukunaga, explained why that just wasn’t feasible, even with the extra time:

"Short answer is money. And although Bond is a big movie, we still have to weigh cost with value. And like anything, you could tinker endlessly. The movie is great as it is."

NO TIME TO DIE does have a lot riding on it and it’s possible that the coronavirus-issued release date change may be a blessing in disguise for the film as fans and moviegoers will have this built up anticipation to go see it. Assuming that things will be all right with the world by November, it will be nice to just sit back and enjoy some signature 007 action. This is Daniel Craig’s last go-round as the popular secret agent and he deserves to have a proper film and release to go out with a bang. Hopefully, the new release date and Fukunaga’s faith in the finished project will do just that.

The latest entry has Bond coming out of a 5-year retirement to help Britain’s secret service track down the source of disappearance of a number of prominent scientists, which leads back to a shadowy figure in control of a dangerous new technology. The film also stars Ana de Armas, Lea Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Rami Malek, Naomie Harris, Christoph Waltz, Billy Magnussen, Jeffrey Wright & Ben Whishaw.

Are YOU confident that NO TIME TO DIE is as good as it can be? NO TIME TO DIE hits screens on November 12, 2020.
