Chris Evans seemingly confirms Steve Rogers’ MCU Nomad transformation

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

For a while now, fans have been speculating that a down-and-out Steve Rogers will abandon his Captain America persona for that of the name Nomad in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. Meanwhile, in the midst of attending ACE Comic-Con in Phoenix over the weekend, an Instagram user by the name of mkgschultre obtained a curious set of signatures from both Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan that point to the Nomad character.

Created by writer Steve Englehart and artist Sal Buscema as an alternate identity for Rogers' Captain America, Nomad served as a short-lived soul-searching persona as the First Avenger worked to regain his faith in the United States government. To put it plainly, Steve was pretty rocked after discovering that the president of the United States was the leader of a terrorist organization known as the Secret Empire, and felt like he needed some air. After all, it's not everyday that you discover your boss is the enemy, let alone the person in charge of the whole mess.

Now, it's true that we've seen Evans sporting his classic Captain America costume in the trailers for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. However, there's always the chance that he'll opt for a change in wardrobe  that pays tribute to the Nomad identity, at some point in the film. With that being said, it's possible that Evans and Stan are just having a bit of fun while toying with the minds of fans who're eager to learn anything and everything about the fate of Marvel's most legendary heroes. For real, I would not put it past them, not one bit.

What do you think about these signatures? Are Evans and Stan dropping hints of what's to come, or is this a clever bit of misdirection on their part to keep fans guessing? Let us know what your suspicions are in the comments section below.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR lands in theaters on May 4th.
