Director Kevin Tancharoen is stepping away from Mortal Kombat

FINISH HIM!

Director Kevin Tancharoen took to Twitter recently to announce that he was stepping away from the MORTAL KOMBAT reboot:

This is interesting news especially since Tancharoen just spoke about the reboot in September. Everything seemed to be moving along with the director stating that they had a good script but were still figuring out the budget along with location sites. The film would be a true reboot in the sense that it would be separate from the series that Tancharoen had already created.

The director did not indicate if he was severing all ties with the world of MORTAL KOMBAT including the web series. Even Johnny Cage (Casper Van Dien) was shocked:

As someone who has loved MORTAL KOMBAT since finding the game in an arcade back in the early 90s, I don’t care if they make another movie. I am completely satisfied with the one W.S. Anderson made. Yep, I have no shame in admitting that.
