Emma Stone looks to DreamWorks for Help

Emma Stone is in talks to star in the upcoming DreamWorks drama THE HELP, based on the Kathryn Stockett novel of the same name. Stone will star as Skeeter, who may sound like a cast member on the upcoming season of “Jersey Shore” but is actually a recent college graduate in 1960s Mississippi. Skeeter returns home to work on her career as a writer but when she interviews the African-American maid, who speaks candidly about her experiences in the South, the shit hits the fan (so to speak).

It’s something of a stretch for Stone who has played mostly in comedies to this point (though you can debate as to whether GHOSTS OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST was actually funny). The actress recently wrapped a voice role in the upcoming Fox kids flick MARMADUKE and is currently filming the anthology comedy film produced by the Farrelly brothers. Eventually she’ll return for ZOMBIELAND 3D whenever that project actually gets itself underway.

While she may be a college grad in this film, she’ll still be in high school this September when her next film (and first starring role) EASY A hits theaters.
