Netflix has passed the rock to some ringers this afternoon by announcing that Queen Latifah, Robert Duvall, and Ben Foster will star opposite Adam Sandler in HUSTLE, an upcoming basketball feature bound to play ball on Netflix.

In the film, Sandler stars as a down on his luck basketball scout who discovers a once-in-a-lifetime player with a rocky past abroad and takes it upon himself to bring the phenom to the States without his team’s approval. Against the odds, they have one final shot to prove they have what it takes to make it in the NBA. (via Deadline)

Also set to hit the court for Netflix's B-Ball feature are NBA player Juancho Hernangomez, Jordan Hull (The L Word: Generation Q), Maria Botto ( Mad Dogs), Ainhoa Pillet, and sports commentator Kenny Smith.

We the Animals helmer Jeremiah Zagar will direct from a script penned by Taylor Materne, with production being handled by Sandler's Happy Madison studio alongside LeBron James' The Springhill Company and Roth/Kirschenbaum Films.

I don't know about you but I'm still recovering from when Adam Sandler watched basketball as Howard Ratner in Benny and Josh Safdie's UNCUT GEMS. With that in mind, my hope is that HUSTLE will make for a slightly less intense viewing experience while still delivering the goods. It's been a tough year for sports all around, though perhaps this upcoming film can remind viewers of what it feels like to be a part of the game.

We'll be sure to bring you more details about HUSTLE as they hit the hardwood.
