Junkie XL to score Terminator: Dark Fate

Terminator: Dark Fate, Junkie XL

When the machine-fueled action of TERMINATOR: DARK FATE is (hopefully) rocking theaters later this year, it will be doing so to a score composed by Tom Holkenborg, aka Junkie XL. THR revealed today that Holkenborg has signed on to score the upcoming TERMINATOR sequel, a move which will reunite him with DEADPOOL director Tim Miller.

"It's great to be working on another project with Tim," Holkenborg said in a statement to THR. "The original Terminators were such iconic movies, and having James back as a producer with Tim directing is an amazing dream team. It's going to be a fantastic movie to be part of." In addition to DEADPOOL, Holkenborg is also known for his exemplory work on MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, TOMB RAIDER, ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL, and many more. I'm extremely pumped to see what Junkie XL will be able to bring to the TERMINATOR franchise, particularly how he handles the main theme. Both THE TERMINATOR and TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY were scored by Brad Fiedel (TRUE LIES), with TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES composed by Marco Beltrami (LOGAN), TERMINATOR SALVATION scored by Danny Elfman (DUMBO), and TERMINATOR GENISYS composed by Lorne Balfe (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT).

As we know, Arnold Schwarzenegger has returned for TERMINATOR: DARK FATE, but he'll also be joined by Linda Hamilton, who will be reprising her role of Sarah Connor in what will be her first on-screen appearance in a TERMINATOR film since the sequel. James Cameron, who is also back in the franchise fold for the first time since JUDGMENT DAY, has said that DARK FATE will be a more direct sequel to the first two films, so you can happily disregard the last three in the series. Done.

TERMINATOR: DARK FATE will hit theaters on November 1, 2019.
