We have a new trailer for upcoming comedy THE WEDDING RINGER to show you tonight. I was underwhelmed with the first trailer, and maybe it’s the Irish coffee I’m drinking, but this is looking pretty darn funny. There are few gags I wish they would have kept until show time but let’s face it, trailers are designed for opening weekend numbers now and try to cram in as much as they can. It has the same DNA as say HITCH where Will Smith played a “date doctor”, this time Kevin Hart plays a best man for hire.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Doug Harris (Josh Gad) is a loveable but socially awkward groom-to-be with a problem: he has no best man. With less than two weeks to go until he marries the girl of his dreams (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting), Doug is referred to Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart), owner and CEO of Best Man, Inc., a company that provides flattering best men for socially challenged guys in need. What ensues is a hilarious wedding charade as they try to pull off the big con, and an unexpected budding bromance between Doug and his fake best man Jimmy.
Gad's character is something of an introvert who somehow managed to put a ring on Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting? Don’t go into this expecting a realistic tale folks. The fake groomsmen are going to steal the show I think; how Gad describes them is pretty much exactly what we might all think right?
The film also stars Ken Howard, Olivia Thirlby, Cloris Leachman, Jenifer Lewis, and Mimi Rogers. THE WEDDING RINGER opens on January 16, 2015.
