Knives Out 2: Janelle Monáe to join Daniel Craig in murder mystery sequel

Knives Out 2, Janelle Monáe, Netflix, Rian Johnson

With Janelle Monáe joining that cast of Knives Out 2, the upcoming murder mystery from Rian Johnson is looking sharper than ever. Monáe is the newest shining star to be added to the cast after Dave Bautista and Edward Norton. Each will join Daniel Craig for the anticipated sequel, which Netflix had purchased for $400 million. Per the deal, Netflix will also lay claim to the third installment of Johnson's Knives Out series, which he will write and direct.

Janelle Monáe is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, actor, record producer, and model. That's right, folks, she does it all. Monáe made a name for herself in Hollywood after starring in the award-winning drama Moonlight. She then played mathematician and aerospace engineer Mary Jackson in Theodore Melfi's Hidden Figures. As outstanding as both of those roles are, I recommend Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz's Antebellum if you want your jaw to hit the floor. Monáe is nothing short of inspiring in that film, and the cast of Knives Out 2 is lucky to have her.

Character and plot details for Knives Out 2 are being kept under wraps at this time. Production is set to begin this summer in Greece.

Released in 2019, Knives Out featured Craig's Benoit Blanc investigating the death of a patriarch of an eccentric, combative family. Making up the cast of Johnson's critically-acclaimed whodunit are Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, LaKetih Stanfield, Christopher Plummer, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, Riki Lindhome, Edi Patterson, Frank Oz, and K Callan.
