Luke Evans talks about what’s happening with The Crow reboot

The chances of THE CROW reboot becoming a reality in the near future is becoming less and less likely. The movie has had three directors and so many lead stars named that I’ve lost track. Last month Luke Evans, who was given the role over a year ago, said the movie wasn't for him. It’s amazing to me that we’re learning more about this project from a potential cast member than anyone actually associated with releasing the movie.

Evans recently spoke with HitFix to talk about the films future:

“Right now I’m not sure where it is, I don’t know what’s happening with it.  I think it’s a question probably to ask [distributor] Relativity…they’re the ones who are really holding the strings to this story and this character. But yeah, I don’t think it’s gonna be something I’m gonna be doing for a while. I’ve got about four or five different projects which I’m lining up for this year, which will take up the majority of my 12 months. So not in the near future, unfortunately.”

That sounds like a man who would rather distance himself from this and go on his way to do other things. He wasn’t shy when it came to talking about the direction the movie will eventually take, because like us, he doesn’t really know:

“It’ll be a different concept, a different director, a different script, and who knows where it will go? I mean, when I was in conversations with everybody it was about being as honorable to the book and loyal to the book as possible. And that meant it would be a very different film to the one that was made with Brandon Lee. Which was a good thing in a way. I mean, it wasn’t that we were trying to replicate something. It was, we were gonna go back to the book and be as completely truthful as possible. But who knows where it’ll go? And who knows whether I’ll be playing it or somebody else.”

Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing a new adaptation and if they want to take a lot of time to get it right I’m all for it. It would be a hard sell in the theater that’s for sure, an R-rated movie based on a comic book that’s nearly thirty years old; sadly you can’t slap a Marvel tag on this one.

Would you still like to see Evans in the role of Eric Draven?
