Multiverse rules were recently discussed in Marvel Studios meeting

Marvel Studios is stepping into the complicated world of the multiverse and Marvel boss, Kevin Feige, says that the studio recently held a meeting about how the rules of the multiverse work. 

According to a recent interview with D23 Inside Disney podcast, via The Direct, Feige confirmed that he and Marvel Studio held a meeting to go over various rules for how the multiverse works in the MCU. Feige didn't go into details about who was exactly in that meeting but here is what he had to say about the recent meeting of the minds:

"The multiverse is coming up in a big way. There's interconnectivity there that people have already started to see and suss out and I had a meeting this morning with the whole broad Marvel Studios team going through the multiverse and the rules of the multiverse and exactly how to really deliver on the excitement surrounding the multiverse."

The multiverse was first mentioned in the MCU by the Ancient One in Doctor Strange and used as misdirection in Spider-Man: Far From Home. The proper introduction of the MCU multiverse was unveiled in the final episode of Disney+'s Loki season 1 as the sacred timeline broke off into different branches. Moving forward, it seems like the future of the MCU will rest heavily on the idea of the multiverse. Disney+ is set to launch the animated series, What If…? and that show will explore various different versions of classic MCU stories. After this, Spider-Man: No Way Home will see Peter Parker (Tom Holland) squaring off against versions of Doc Ock (Alfred Molina) and Electro (Jamie Foxx) from previous Spider-Man film incarnations. This will continue to come to a head with the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which will feature Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and the new hero, America Chavez, who has the ability to travel between different universes. Lastly, after being teased in the Loki season finale, Kang the Conqueror will appear in 2023's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania.

The multiverse is going to prove to be a daunting task so it makes sense that Kevin Feige and his team had a meeting about what the rules are and how all of this will actually work. Once you start toying with timelines and suggesting alternate realities, it could also confuse the audience so you have to make sure all of the creative minds are on the same page to make sure that the audience can easily keep up with what is going on.
