Nick Cave takes a crack at writing the remake of The Crow

A reboot of THE CROW is coming (whether you want it to or not) and just last month , producer Ed Pressman proclaimed that director Stephen Norrington’s script for it was "terrific". But it seems a lot can change in a month, and there’s always room for improvement.

According to The Wrap , musician/writer Nick Cave (THE PROPOSITION) has been brought in to do a rewrite of the story, based again on James O’Barr’s initial comic about a man who returns from the grave to avenge the murder of his gal (it’s a love story!).

It’s unknown how much of the story will be reworked by Cave (who also once penned a fantastically batshit GLADIATOR sequel script). But apparently an actor has been close to joining the project, which may have prompted the rewrites (and perhaps provide clues as to why Cave was selected for duty?).

The Crow character has also been resuscitated in other comics, three movie sequels and a syndicated TV series (and an aborted futuristic movie version from Rob Zombie).
