Remastered Raiders of the Lost Ark will keep playing in theaters for another week!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

You are a filthy liar if you say you don’t love RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. Quite possibly the best adventure movie of all time, RAIDERS has just completed a limited one week run in IMAX theaters. In fact, Paramount was so pleased with the release ($2.4 million gross in 267 IMAX theaters), that they are expanding the release to over 300 Digital, non-IMAX screens.

The theatrical run is to commemorate the Blu-ray release of the INDIANA JONES on September 18th. I was too young to see RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK during its original run but I am definitely going to catch it in this last week! According to Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore “The re-mastering efforts by Steven, George and their team were incredible and the movie’s hugely successful run in Imax last week was a sure sign that audiences were excited to see the film again on the big screen. We are thrilled that audiences will have that chance again as part of this extended theatrical run.”

All four films have been remastered by Spielberg and sound designer Ben Burtt and the Blu-ray will include seven hours of bonus material, including a brand new two-part documentary titled On Set With Raiders of the Lost Ark — From Jungle to Desert and From Ad. It also features nearly an hour of rarely seen footage from the set of the film and archival interviews with Spielberg, Lucas and Ford.

Count me excited!
