Rumor: First Star Wars spin-off may be about Han Solo; Aaron Paul has a role

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Forget about all of the news surrounding STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. What we want to know about is details on the STAR WARS SPIN-OFF projects. All we know at this point is that Gareth Edwards and Josh Trank have been commissioned to direct the films due in 2016 and 2018, but beyond that we are not sure exactly what the plot will be. Some have said Yoda, Boba Fett, or Han Solo with some sources citing the first film as being a heist adventure. Well, new rumors suggest we may finally know what the 2016 STAR WARS SPIN-OFF will be about.

Making Star Wars posted the first details about the film. Their source appears reputable and provided them with some of the first STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS photos that turned out to be legit. Here is what they had to say about the first STAR WARS SPIN-OFF.

The film is being set to be produced at Pinewood Studios, just like STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. Despite being released before it, the film will feature some filming overlap with STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII. Whether this means the plots will be connected or simply share production space is unknown. The working title/code name for the first spin-off is LUMINAC INDUSTRIAL GOODS. The source also says the film will focus on Han Solo.

To date, these rumors have yet to be substantiated, but Han Solo keeps popping up in connection with the STAR WARS SPIN-OFF plans. The source claims that Aaron Paul is being pursued for a role in the film but would not lock him in for the role of Han Solo. Still, Aaron Paul as a young Solo is not the worst idea in the world. Keep in mind there is nothing to say that a Han Solo spin-off has to be a prequel as we have no idea where Solo will be in EPISODE VII or VIII. All we know for certain is these spin-offs will not be directly related to the main Skywalker saga.

If these rumors turn out to be true, they could be pretty damn exciting for fans of the franchise. We have a long way to go, but expect news soon as production would need to get underway in the coming year to be ready for the first STAR WARS SPIN-OFF release date of December 16, 2016.
