Rumor: The X-Men and The Fantastic Four could unite on screen in 2018

We've been receiving our fair share of Marvel and DC rumours these past few days and the latest comes to us from Latino-Review so take it with a grain of salt. Twentieth Century Fox currently has an unknown Marvel film slotted in for July 13, 2018 and if the rumours are true, that unknown film could wind up being our first X-Men/Fantastic Four cinematic crossover.

Whether or not this comes to pass depends on a variety of factors, most importantly would be how Josh Trank's upcoming FANTASTIC FOUR film is received. The premiere of Trank's film is fast approaching its August 7, 2015 release and public response to the film thus far has been…less than kind, but I remain hopeful that FANTASTIC FOUR will surprise us. Should the film actually succeed in that regard, I'd imagine that Fox would be able to move forward with confidence with this whole crossover idea.

As to which characters would be involved in the potential crossover, presumably Josh Trank's cast of Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell would stick around, but things get a little more confusing in the X-Men camp as many of the big actors will be moving on following the release of X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. It seems as though Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Alexandra Shipp, and Lana Condor are being set up as the new youthful faces of the franchise, so perhaps Fox will find a way to bring them together with The Fantastic Four.

FANTASTIC FOUR already has a sequel penciled in for July 14, 2017 and X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is coming on May 27, 2016. How would you folks feel should the mystery film of July 13, 2018 indeed prove to be the rumoured crossover?
