Spider-Man 3: Tom Holland shooting Spidey sequel where he first auditioned

It's a bit of a full-circle moment for Tom Holland as he shoots the latest Spider-Man installment. The young actor is currently shooting the Spidey sequel on the very same stage where he first auditioned for the role back in 2015.

Tom Holland made his debut as everyone's "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" in 2016's Captain America: Civil War and he has since gone on to appear in two solo movies with Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home as well as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Over on Instagram, Chris Pratt hosted an Instagram telethon to raise money for the charity Greater Good and Holland made a special appearance. During his time on the telethon, Holland revealed that filming Spider-Man 3 was a bit of a surreal experience because he's shooting it where it all began for him.

"We started shooting Spider-Man 3 a few months ago, which has been crazy and really weird because we're shooting it back in Atlanta. That's where I did my audition for Spider-Man, and we're actually shooting on the stage where I did my audition. It's like a really weird full-circle story of walking through the same door I walked through as an 18-year-old kid, like, nervous, like, 'Oh my god, I hope I get this job!' And then walking through the door at 24, making the third movie, loving life, confident, enjoying everything that's happening to me. So, it's been amazing."

When Tom Holland went out for the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, the actor was facing some steep competition from some other talented actors in the final stages of the casting process. Other names in line for the role were Asa Butterfield, Judah Lewis, Matthew Lintz, Charlie Plummer, and Charlie Rowe. Eventually, Holland and Butterfield emerged as the front-runners for the part after each screen-tested for Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo. Holland would, of course, go on to land the role and the rest is MCU history.

I'm happy that Holland secured the part because, for my money, he is the best live-action Spider-Man we've had to date, and he only appears to be growing even more as an actor as time goes on. That being said I must ask you: If Tom Holland wasn't cast, who would YOU have liked to see take on the role? Any other actors that could've been potential contenders?
