Stallone stages another prison break in Escape Plan: The Extractors teaser

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

After making brief appearances in both THE EXPENDABLES and THE EXPENDABLES 2, the thought of Arnold Schwarzenegger properly teaming up with Sylvester Stallone in ESCAPE PLAN was a welcome thought. The film found Stallone starring as Ray Breslin, a security expert who tests the reliability of maximum-security prisons. However, when he finds himself in a top-secret prison with no hope of escape, he's forced to enlist the help of fellow prisoner Emil Rottmayer (Schwarzenegger). ESCAPE PLAN certainly wasn't the best film in the world, but it was enjoyable enough (and successful enough) to prompt the development of two DTV sequels, which Schwarzenegger was not involved with.

Dave Bautista (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY) joined the cast for ESCAPE PLAN 2: HADES, but critics largely tore the film apart, which doesn't exactly do much to instill confidence in ESCAPE PLAN: THE EXTRACTORS. A teaser trailer for the latest sequel has been released which finds the team forced to pull off a deadly prison break in order to rescue the kidnapped daughter of a Hong Kong tech mogul. When Breslin's girlfriend Abigail (Jaime King) is also captured, it becomes personal. Fingers crossed that it fares better than HADES.

The official synopsis for ESCAPE PLAN: THE EXTRACTORS:

Screen legend Sylvester Stallone kicks this explosive action tale into high gear. After security expert Ray Breslin (Stallone) is hired to rescue the kidnapped daughter of a Hong Kong tech mogul from a formidable Latvian prison, Breslin’s girlfriend (Jaime King) is also captured. Now he and his team, which includes Dave Bautista and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, must pull off a deadly rescue mission to confront their sadistic foe and save the hostages before time runs out.

ESCAPE PLAN: THE EXTRACTORS will be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on July 2, 2019.
