Sylvester Stallone confirms Mel Gibson for The Expendables 3

To be honest, I wasn't sure if I should report on this. After all the sources claiming Mel Gibson was going to appear in THE EXPENDABLES 3, wouldn't it be more of a surprise if the rumor turned out to be completely false? I think most of us have assumed for a couple of months now that Mel Gibson is definitely going to join Sylvester Stallone and company in the third movie.

But this isn't from a "reliable source" or an exclusive from some other site. This comes from Stallone himself, and it's a tweet he sent out last night:

I've said it before that I think Mel Gibson would be great in THE EXPENDABLES 3, and if he's playing the villain that's even better. Stallone's tweet might not be a "real" confirmation (like a press release or announcement from a studio), but he's clearly involved with the franchise and I really think we're going to get to see Riggs and Rambo duke it out. It seems like Stallone is shooting for the moon with the third film, and with this many action stars he might just blow the sucker up.

THE EXPENDABLES 3 is in theaters August 15th, 2014.
