The Leftovers’ Carrie Coon joins the third season cast of Fargo

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

If you've seen her work on HBO's The Leftovers or David Fincher's GONE GIRL, you'll know that any project which counts Carrie Coon among its cast won't be suffering in the talent department. The previous two seasons of FX's Fargo were able to gather together a great bunch of actors and the upcoming third season looks to continue that trend. TVLine reports that Carrie Coon will be joining the cast of Fargo as the female lead opposite Ewan McGregor.

Coon, who is currently filming the third and final season of The Leftovers in Australia, will be playing Gloria Burgle in Fargo, who is described as "a practical woman who grabs the fire extinguisher when the bacon catches fire and everyone else panics." She's also the chief of the Eden Valley police, and a newly divorced mother, "who is struggling to understand this new world around her where people connect more intimately with their phones than the people right in front of them." Ewan McGregor will also be starring in the third season of Fargo in a dual role as two brothers, Emmit Stussy (a self-made real estate mogul) and Ray (a parole officer with a chip on his shoulder). Production on Fargo's third season is expected to get underway later this year and will premiere sometime in 2017, as will the third and final season of The Leftovers.
