Tom Cruise on Top Gun 2- “We’re working on it.”

Tom Cruise recently spoke to MTV and confirmed that they’re trying to get TOP GUN 2 prepped for flight.

As previously reported, Tony Scott is all fired up about the idea and has been working on it without even a script having been written.

“I said to Tony I want to make another movie with him. He and I haven’t made a film since DAYS OF THUNDER, ” Cruise said. “Tony and I and Jerry [Bruckheimer], we never thought that we would do it again. Then they started to come to us with these ideas of where it is now. I thought, ‘Wow, that would be … what we could do now.’ “

Christopher McQuarrie was previously hired to write the script, but it seems like they’ll be looking for a new writer soon. “I don’t think Chris going to write it. Chris is directing ONE SHOT right now, which I’m acting in. We’ve got to go back in January and finish it,” he said.

Cruise really wants thisn to fall into place, though. “I hope we can figure this out to go do it again,” he said. “If we can find a story that we all want to do, we all want to make a film that is in the same kind of tone as the other one and shoot it in the same way as we shot TOP GUN.”
