Venom now titled Venom Carnage; Doc Ock may lead the Sinister Six

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Earlier today we shared news about a female Spider-Man spinoff, and judging by the comments and reaction around the Internet today, it’s going to be a hard sell. We have more news from the Spider-Man universe regarding the Drew Goddard’s SINISTER SIX which is set for a November 11, 2016 release. Reports suggest that Dr. Octopus will be in charge of the villains appearing in the film. I say villains because they get shifted around from time to time in the comics, and they haven’t set a final roster for the movie just yet.

Elsewhere, the long-in-development VENOM movie directed by Alex Kurtzman has a new title, VENOM CARNAGE. There isn’t a ‘v’ or ‘vs’ in there to confuse people, but could this be a Cletus Kasady & Eddie Brock team-up or a fight to the finish?

As per Deadline‘s sources regarding the projects:

“[The film] revolves around all the villains of Spider-Man converging after the evil Dr. Octopus summons them. There are a lot of different Sinister Six team-ups so it has yet to be revealed which characters might appear, but one possibility is Vulture, Mysterio, Electro, Kraven the Hunter and Sandman.”

Here is a suggested VENOM CARNAGE release date for Kurtzman (who would be rushing to finish THE MUMMY which he’s directing now):

“The Venom movie — which we hear is entitled Venom Carnage — is still said to be in development with old pros Alex Kurtzman and Ed Solomon scripting. The Venom pic, which Kurtzman will direct, may also now come out in 2017.”

Sony seems to be scrambling to fix something since their disappointment in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2. The movie didn’t gross as much as the first try, but it really didn’t bomb either says this math wiz. It should be noted, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 also had $30 million less of a budget than its predecessor.

My suggestion for next time is not to overstuff the movie; people won’t get bored with one villain, they get bored with a lazy story. Regardless, the next movie (if and when) is likely going to have an incredible amount of pressure riding on it. Poor Andrew Garfield, he just wanted to make some fun movies.

Have you guys been waiting anxiously for VENOM CARNAGE?
