One of fellow news editor Eric Waluski’s favorite films of 2009 was MY SUPER PSYCHO SWEET 16, a film that was made by and exclusively shown on MTV about around Halloween.
Everyone else seems to love it as well because MTV is busting out with another made-for-TV movie, this time a thriller along the lines of Adam Green’s FROZEN. It’s called THE TRUTH BELOW, and it follows a group of teens (of course!) trapped in an avalanche(!). Not a bad premise, and if it’s anything like ALIVE, then maybe we can expect some extreme measures… like cannibalism.
According to THR, THE TRUTH BELOW scored its first cast member this week: MODERN FAMILY’s Reid Ewing. Because filming on the project kicks off this week, expect more and more casting updates to come out of the woodworks, each one younger than the one before I’m sure.
In general, I’m agnostic to Ewing… I could really give a flying flute. And unless they cast the beautiful Julianna Guill (below), I don’t know if I want to see this movie at all. Then again, MY SUPER PSYCHO SWEET 16 was such a triumph, where could they possibly go wrong with this?
