According to a story in Variety, Poland is going to get the smackdown laid upon them by a serial killer courtesy of Oscar-nominated director Agnieszka Holland.
The project is titled “Die kalte Faust des Todes” (THE COLD FIST OF DEATH), which comes from the novel by author Olga Tokarczuk. The tale centers on an eccentric woman who becomes the subject of a police investigation following a series of mysterious murders in Poland’s Giant Mountains.
Holland is best known for prestige films like EUROPA EUROPA (which garnered her a screenplay nomination), TOTAL ECLIPSE (starring a young Leonardo DiCaprio) and COPYING BEETHOVEN (starring Ed Harris and Diane Kruger). In recent years she’s moved toward high-end television, helming episodes of HBO’s “The Wire” (best show ever, btw) and “Treme”. Currently she’s working on the WWII drama IN DARKNESS, after which she’ll get started on COLD FIST.
