Mike Myers, whose Scottish brogue you’ll be hearing over the next fifteen or twenty years as the SHREK sequels increase to double digits (and likely triple digits), has been tapped to host the upcoming MTV Movie Awards, which are scheduled to air June 1st. This of course means that you can expect all kinds of tie-ins to Myers’ upcoming comedy THE LOVE GURU, in which he tries to re-create that AUSTIN POWERS magic though self-help parody. Interestingly enough, the last time Myers hosted the MTV Movie Awards was in 1997, the same year the original AUSTIN POWERS was released. Is MTV Myers’ good luck launching pad for franchises? Perhaps. We’ll find out when GURU opens June 20th.
