Myrick’s next is Savant

It’s been 10 years since THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, and you know what? I would have thought directors Daniel Myrick & Eduardo Sanchez would be… bigger. Sure, it’s not like it’s a fine piece of filmmaking, but you’d think they would have scored plenty of deals and made bigger films by now, but no… nope, that’s not the case at all. Really, besides a few straight to DVD flicks here and there, they really haven’t done squat. Lame.

Myrick had a chance to talk with Sci-Fi Wire about a number of things, including his latest film THE OBJECTIVE (which is screening at a few film fests later this year), as well as what he has lined up for his next project. The new flick is called SAVANT, and to tell you truth, it sounds f*cking crazy. Check out how he describes it:

Savant is about this guy named Jeremiah Stark who… has this special ability to get inside people’s heads and influence their behavior, thus turning the people into mass murderers, [by] doing nothing more than having a regular conversation.

That’s right, it’s a hypnotist who’s gone this side of ape-shit. Actually, the potential to make a top-notch psychological thriller, while having fun with the violence of it all, is definitely there, and could make for a pretty damn entertaining movie. The buzz for THE OBJECTIVE is better than some of his other films, so outlook is good for SAVANT. Maybe this will be the ‘new’ side of Myrick, one that we haven’t seen before.
