The Dubai-based paper The National (via Yahoo!) has reported that the United Arab Emirates is gearing up for its first feature-length horror film which will be directed by an as-yet-unknown “horror genre master”. Said director will be unveiled when the film, titled THE JINN, is officially announced on January 3rd. Let the speculation fly!

THE JINN follows the life of a couple who return to the UAE and start to experience strange and unexplained happening. Filming is expected to start sometime in the first quarter of next year and last approximately two months. Imagenation, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Media Company, is producing the flick, which will be shot in Arabic and English.

Daniella Tully, Imagenation’s vice-president of development and a producer of the film, said about the mystery helmer: “I can say that he is one of Hollywood’s horror genre masters.”

This film, by the way, shouldn’t be confused with that other JINN movie we told you about back in November, although both deal with the titular supernatural creature born of Arab folklore. Of course we’ll bring you the identity of this latest flick’s director when it’s revealed.

The star of THE JINN, Serinda Swan
