With the quality of films getting progressively worse, and the quality of TV getting progressively better, it seems more of our favorite cinematic baddies are taking a bite out of the small screen!
Not only is AMC poised to unspool “The Walking Dead” in a couple of months, it now seems NBC has purchased the rights to a spec script entitled “ZOMBIES VS. VAMPIRES”, which is said to be a fun police procedural in which zombies are integrated into society, regulated by medication. Word is the series will focus on two police officers, one a clandestine vampire, who are routinely assigned to solve a rash of zombie crimes. Austin Winsberg (“Jake in Progress”) wrote the spec.
As far as production goes, it seems McG’s Wonderland banner, in conjunction with Warner Bros. TV, are jointly fast-tracking the NBC series. McG will executive produce with Winsberg and Peter Johnson.
No word when ZOMBIES VS. VAMPIRES will go into production. Until we do however, let us know how you feel about such a project. You down with the premise, or do you think being on NBC (a la “Fear Itself”) will hinder any true bite the show could otherwise clamp on cable?
