EDITOR'S UPDATE: While much of Hollywood is getting slap happy with one movie-to-TV show after another, it appears that Cameron Crowe has put the kabosh on this one. After voicing his displeasure with the whole thing, stating that he'd never been consulted on the deal whatsoever, 20th Century Fox TV have decided to shelve the show, just 24 hours after making the deal to proceed. You can get more details on the breakdown here. I'm chalking this up to a win for all of us. – PS

I'm sure SAY ANYTHING fans are going to be absolutely thrilled with this news. That was sarcasm by the way, in case you couldn't tell. According to Deadline, NBC and 20th Century Fox TV are working on a new television show, and the series will basically be a sequel to Cameron Crowe's SAY ANYTHING. The site also says it'll be a single-camera comedy set a decade after the events from the film, and will be written by Better Off Ted executive producer Justin Adler.

Set in present day, the Say Anything series picks up ten years later. Lloyd has long since been dumped by Diane and life hasn’t exactly turned out like he thought. But when Diane surprisingly returns home, Lloyd is inspired to “dare to be great” once again, get Diane back and reboot his life.

Apparently Cameron Crowe didn't know there were plans for a sequel series based on his movie until the news was announced, and he isn't attached at all to the show. Although 20th Century Fox and NBC can still legally make a SAY ANYTHING series, Crowe says he's going to try to stop it from happening.

Deadline says 20th Century Fox did try to contact Cameron Crowe, but a "miscommunication with his executives led to the disconnect."

I might be able to get behind a SAY ANYTHING series if Crowe was involved, but without the writer/director? Thanks, but no thanks. I probably already know the answer, but are any of you interested in seeing NBC's SAY ANYTHING series?
