Only hours after hearing Brazilian actor Wagner Moura has locked a villainous role in Neill Blomkamp’s cryptic DISTRICT 9 follow up, ELYSIUM, we now know exactly when the flick is coming to theaters…

From THR, ELYSIUM will hit screens on March 8th, 2013.

Kind of a bummer, considering we thought the film would hit in late 2012. As it now stands, we have almost two years do the date of waiting.

While not much is known plot wise – any film set 100 years into the future, with $120 million budget, starring Matt Damon (as an ex-con), Sharlto Copley and possibly Jodie Foster (below) – we can all expect pretty big things from the man who gave us one of the more believable, engrossing alien movies to come out in recent history.

ELYSIUM comes to theaters March 8th, 2013.
