"Drop it, Neill!" is how I imagine Peter Weller's Robocop ordering Mr. Blomkamp (DISTRICT 9, CHAPPIE) to let us all know about the progress he is making with regards to the Robo-sequel he's writing that takes place in the 1987 original's universe. And "drop it" is exactly what the Oscar-nominated filmmaker did on his Twitter account this evening. Have a look:
Script is being written. Going well! Imagine watching Verhoeven do a follow up film https://t.co/QDp5T7cf5L

Two things immediately stand out to me from that simple tweet above. First, Mr. Blomkamp actually acknowledges that a script is being written. Second, he dropped original director Paul Verhoeven's name! Could this mean that the man who introduced us to Sharon Stone's beaver may very well be returning to the world of OCP?! I suppose only time (and money) will tell! Till then, I'll have a pretty good time pondering the possibilities! I mean, having Paul Verhoeven back in the director's chair calling the shots for Officer Murphy after 22 years?! I'd buy THAT for a dollar! Would you?? Comment below!
