Created by The Duffer Brothers, the eight episode Netflix series Stranger Things has become one of the top pop cultural phenomenons of 2016, so there was really no question of whether not we would be getting a second season. The only question was, when would Netflix make it official?
Netflix made it official today, releasing a video consisting only of text and the show's awesome synth theme, composed by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein. It's not much to describe, but it's more than enough to get me hyped. The text in the video seems to reveal the titles of all nine episodes of the second season, while also letting us know what time period this story will be taking place in: "In the fall of 1984… the adventure continues."
Those nine episodes will be available on Netflix sometime in the fall of 2017.

set in 1983 Indiana when a young boy vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Matt and Ross Duffer revealed that you can expect all of the main characters to return, with one possible exception – they won't confirm whether or not Millie Bobby Brown's character Eleven will be back. There will be four new characters added into the mix, the story will expand beyond the confines of the town of Hawkins, Indiana, and the dimension known as the Upside Down will be further explored. In crafting the second season, the Duffers are taking inspiration from sequels that "feel very different without losing what we loved about the original". Movies like ALIENS, TERMINATOR 2, and INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM.
