Netflix paid $50 million for The Cloverfield Paradox?

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

This past Super Bowl Sunday was pretty f*cking crazy in that we were hit with not only the official news that Netflix had, in fact, picked up distribution for GOD PARTICLE aka CLOVERFIELD 3 and renamed it THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX but that the film was going to be debuting on the streaming site that very night!

As crazy as all of that was, today's news might be even crazier. The story goes that if THR and their "sources" are to be believed, Netflix paid a whopping $50 million for the rights to the new CLOVERFIELD flick. Wow.

That's a whole lot of cash to throw down for a film that's only snagging a 19% on Rotten Tomatoes. But then again, how could Netflix have known the film was a dud? Wait, is it a dud? I don't know, personally. I haven't seen it yet. But I plan to give it a viewing tonight.

Whatever price tag this new film fetched, what do you make of THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX? Make sure to hit us up and let us know what you thought in the comments below or on social media!

Synopsis:

The story, set in the near future, centers on a team of astronauts on a space station making a terrifying discovery that challenges all they know about the fabric of reality, as they desperately fight for their survival.

The film is directed by Julius Onah from a screenplay by Oren Uziel and Doug Jung. The film stars David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Brühl, and Chris O’Dowd.

THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX is now streaming on Netflix.
