It should come as no surprise that streaming would be at an all-time high right now as we're all forced to self-quarantine amid COVID-19. Mark Wahlberg and company can claim the most streamed content as now with SPENSER CONFIDENTIAL but streaming platforms are seeing significant surges cross the board.
According to Nielsen research via "Deadline", SPENSER CONFIDENTIAL was the most viewed content on streaming for the week of March 16. In the film, ex-cop Spenser (Mark Wahlberg) teams up with his no-nonsense roommate, Hawk (Winston Duke), to take down criminals which makes buddy-cop action comedy ensue.
The Office follows that film as the most streamed content across the board which isn't surprising since The Office has consistently been the most streamed show on Netflix, original or otherwise. Netflix will lose the popular comedy to NBCUniversal's Peacock streaming service once it's up and running but the streamer can enjoy all the perks of The Office for now.
Streaming, whether it's Netflix, Hulu or Prime Video, has seen a surge of 50% in viewers streaming content in the U.S. (based on minutes spent streaming) which is up for the week of March 16 from the previous year. The platform currently stands at 23% of all viewing occurring on televisions as of the week of March 16. A year ago, it was at 14%. And who is leading the pack? During the week, Netflix’s led streaming content with 29%, followed by YouTube at 20%, Hulu at 10%, and Amazon Prime Video at 9%.
I can speak for myself and say that I've given all of my streaming services a workout. I currently have Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, DC Universe, Disney+, HBO GO, Shudder & CBS All Access. I also plan on exploring HBO Max and Peacock once they become available as well. There is a lot of content to explore and we have nothing but time so might as well give each of these a shot.
