New Candyman film gets a poster ahead of Thursday trailer release

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

A couple days ago, we heard that a trailer for the Jordan Peele-produced "spiritual sequel" to the 1992 classic CANDYMAN would be released sometime this week, and now we know when it's coming. The CANDYMAN trailer will be online Thursday morning.

We're not empty handed as we wait these last two days to see what Peele and director Nia DaCosta have done with the CANDYMAN franchise, as a poster has arrived online. That poster can be seen below.

Directed by DaCosta from a screenplay she wrote with Peele and Win Rosenfeld, the new CANDYMAN is said to follow

Anthony, a socially pronounced artist in Chicago who researches the urban legend of Candyman. After investigating the killer’s last known whereabouts, strange killings begin to occur around Anthony. The protagonist will serve a role similar to that of Helen Lyle, the main character of the original movie.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Teyonah Parris star, and Candyman himself Tony Todd has indicated that he's in the cast as well.

Peele and Rosenfeld produced the film with Ian Cooper, through Peele's company Monkeypaw Productions.

CANDYMAN is set to reach theatres on June 12th. We'll be sharing the trailer on Thursday.
