Premiering at Cannes this month, among others, is Lars Von Trier’s MELANCHOLIA, his surreal ode to the end of the world. As such, a grainy new poster for the film, as well as a matrimonial image, have been put out. Living up to the title, Kirsten Dunst’s character doesn’t seem too thrilled as she ready to lock lips, does she?

With an impressive cast that also includes Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlotte Rampling, John Hurt, Brady Corbet, Alexander Skarsgard, Stellan Skarsgard and Udo Kier – MELANCHOLIA centers on:

Justine (Dunst) and Michael (Skarsgård) who are celebrating their marriage at a sumptuous party in the home of her sister (Gainsbourg) and brother-in-law (Sutherland). Meanwhile, the planet, Melancholia, is heading towards Earth… MELANCHOLIA is a psychological disaster movie from director Lars von Trier.

We’re still awaiting a U.S. release for MELANCHOLIA, though it spreads through most of Europe this month and next. HERE’S the official site for more.
