As far as filmic intrigue goes, J.J. Abrams’ SUPER 8 is currently second to none. Dude certainly knows how to keep his new film, as he did producorially with CLOVERFIELD, under an opaque body-wrap.

Which is exactly why we’re excited to share with you the new IMAX trailer for SUPER 8. You see, we it’s not so much any new plot details that have come to light, but the tone and tenor of the Amblin/Paramount production. Instead of the harrowing alien aspect the teaser and trailer have given us, we now have a lighter, 80s style kids flick (a la THE GOONIES) sensibility to let us know what we’re in store for. Cop a look at that sucker below!

With definitive answers coming June 10th, SUPER 8 picks up: In the summer of 1979, where a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning, Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich Gabriel Basso, and Amanda Michalka (below) are some of the key SUPER 8 players.
