New Independence Day: Resurgence posters go right for the landmarks

Independence Day: Resurgence title banner

As Jeff Goldblum so delightfully puts it in the INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE trailers, "they like to get the landmarks." Indeed they do Jeff, indeed they do. Although I definitely wouldn't count Roland Emmerich's now twenty year old original film among my favourites, I'm strangely looking forward to the upcoming sequel. Perhaps it's the thought of seeing Jeff Goldblum perform his wide-eyed humanity saving miracles yet again, or finding out what Brent Spiner's Dr. Okun has been up to all these years, or maybe I just miss the rampant destruction porn that Mr. Emmerich does oh so well. Whatever it is, we're now less than a month away from witnessing the remainder of Earth's landmarks go the way of the Dodo. To that end, enjoy these new international INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE posters!

A synopsis for INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE:

We always knew they were coming back. After INDEPENDENCE DAY redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE will destroy theaters (probably) on June 24, 2016.
