As Jeff Goldblum so delightfully puts it in the INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE trailers, "they like to get the landmarks." Indeed they do Jeff, indeed they do. Although I definitely wouldn't count Roland Emmerich's now twenty year old original film among my favourites, I'm strangely looking forward to the upcoming sequel. Perhaps it's the thought of seeing Jeff Goldblum perform his wide-eyed humanity saving miracles yet again, or finding out what Brent Spiner's Dr. Okun has been up to all these years, or maybe I just miss the rampant destruction porn that Mr. Emmerich does oh so well. Whatever it is, we're now less than a month away from witnessing the remainder of Earth's landmarks go the way of the Dodo.
