Deadline reports that Sonya Walger (For All Mankind), Hayley Erin (Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists), and Tony Amendola (Annabelle) have signed on to star in the horror thriller New Life, which will tell the story of “a deadly cat and mouse game in the Pacific Northwest.” Walger is taking on the role of Elsa,

a brilliant “fixer” assigned to capture a mysterious woman on the run. As the snare of the pursuit tightens, Elsa must fight her own secret battle with ALS to stay on top of the explosive case before it reaches an apocalyptic endgame.

That escalated quickly. It will be interesting to see how exactly this mysterious woman might set off the apocalypse.

New Life marks the feature writing and directing debut of John Rosman.

Walger has said that she doesn’t watch TV shows, but many of her biggest roles have been on TV and streaming services. In addition to playing Molly Cobb on the Apple TV+ series For All Mankind, she has also worked on episodes of Get Shorty, The Catch, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, Transparent, Scorpion, The Leftovers, Power, Elementary, Scandal, Parenthood, Common Law, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, In Treatment, Flashforward, CSI: NY, Coupling, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, among others. I’ll always think of her as Penny from Lost.

She also hosts the podcast Bookish, “a podcast for people who love people who love books!” She created that show to “talk to interesting people about the five books that have most shaped who they are. Not their favourites, not the ones they always recommend; but the five that were turning points, realisations, discoveries about themselves and the world they were living in.” Her guests on Bookish have included William H. Macy, Emily Mortimer, Damon Lindelof, Kate Walsh, Jon Hamm, Jared Harris, Julie Bowen, David S. Goyer, Mireille Enos, Felicity Huffman, and Chris Weitz.

New Life is being produced by Justin Ross and Mike Marchlewski. We’ll keep you updated on the project as more information is made available.
