Are You Afraid of the Dark revival series cast new Midnight Society!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Thank God! A few weeks back we let you guys know that IT and THE NUN screenwriter Gary Dauberman had left Paramount's planned adaptation of Nickelodeon’s ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK throwing the promised revival series in limbo as well. But all is good as today we have news that the revival is still headed our way this Halloween! Yes, this reimagined version of iconic children's horror anthology series is coming our way later this year and the cast has mostly been set.

The names currently attached include Sam Ashe Arnold (Best.Worst.Weekend.Ever.), Miya Cech (Rim of the World), Tamara Smart (Artemis Fowl, The Worst Witch), Lyliana Wray (Top Gun: Maverick, Black-ish), Rafael Casal (Blindspotting), and – get this – IT and GOOSEBUMPS 2: HAUNTED HALLOWEEN star Jeremy Taylor. Nice!

Written by BenDavid Grabinski (Skiptrace) and directed by Dean Israelite (Power Rangers, Project Almanac), the three-episode hourlong limited series

introduces an entirely new Midnight Society group of kids who tell a terrifying tale about the Carnival of Doom, only to have the events of the story come to life.

Arnold, Cech, Smart, Taylor, and Wray are the new members of the Midnight Society while Casal will be playing The Carnival of Doom’s ringmaster, Mr. Tophat. The Are You Afraid of the Dark? limited series is produced by ACE Entertainment (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before) with ACE founder Matt Kaplan and Spencer Berman serving as executive producers. Grabinski and Israelite also executive produce. The limited series is slated for premiere in October. How excited are you for more Are You Afraid of the Dark? Make sure to hit us up and let us know below!

On a side note, the movie is still chugging along and is expected to debut later following some behind-the-scene changes. No word on whether or not THE DISAPPOINTMENTS ROOM, DISTURBIA director D.J. Caruso is still at the helm.
