New Moon gets unusual DVD date, lame cover

I know this will be very exciting for all of you.

Summit has given NEW MOON a MARCH 20th DVD/Blu-Ray release date. Soooo far away, I know. What’s interesting about the release date (yes, I was able to find something interesting about it) is that it’s a Saturday. I’m sure you know DVDs are typically released on Tuesday, but in this case, Summit is unleashing NEW MOON three days prior to – in the press release’s words – allow for fans across the nation to celebrate at retailer’s midnight release parties before taking home the film at 12:01 a.m.

I sure don’t envy the poor souls who have to work that late just so a gaggle of over-caffeinated teenagers can storm past them in a fit of high-pitched insanity.

As far as extras are concerned, they include a revealing Audio Commentary with Director Chris Weitz and editor Peter Lambert; a riveting 6-part documentary that takes you behind the scenes; exclusive band rehearsal footage with Muse; and music videos from Death Cab for Cutie, Anya Marina and Mute Math.

Lest we forget, another one of these will be in theaters about three months after the DVD is released…
