Gareth Edwards’ highly anticipated MONSTERS is coming our way in less than a month (via Video OnDemand), and while a curious world waits to see what it brings, we’ve got a new poster to show you. While it doesn’t offer up in the way of an actual monster, you can get a tiny glimpse of what one looks like in the reflection of the gas mask.
I’ve seen MONSTERS, and my review is coming soon (it’s currently embargoed). I’ll say this much about it though – while indeed rocking a super low budget and a boatload of ambition, MONSTERS isn’t quite the movie you’re meant to believe it is. That’s all.
Six years ago NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon re-entry over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear and grow. In an effort to stem the destruction that resulted, half of Mexico was quarantined as an INFECTED ZONE. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain the massive creatures… Our story begins when a jaded US journalist (Scoot McNairy) begrudgingly agrees to find his boss’ daughter, a shaken American tourist (Whitney Able) and escort her through the infected zone to the safety of the US border.
MONSTERS premieres on VOD, iTunes, Playstations, and Xboxes on SEPTEMBER 24, and theaters on OCTOBER 29.
