New SAW VII director Kevin Greutert blogs, will “fight for justice”!

Kevin Greutert (pictured right) just took to his official blog to comment on what was truly an unusual turn of events late last night, which I’m sure you’ve already heard about and are still processing.

Let’s get right to it:
I’m in the middle of something really terrible right now, as anyone who has come to this site probably knows. While I fight for justice in this, the important thing is to avoid giving in to hatred and anger, because these emotions are life killers.

Hopefully we will all arrive at an amicable solution. Thank you to everyone who is working with me on this.

Sounds to me like Kevin isn’t about to toe the company line and go off into that good night. Why should he? Yes, it’s Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures’ right to exercise their option and pull him back into the world of SAW, but does it come off as anything other than petty? In all likelihood, the move has nothing to do with them wanting Greutert on the film and everything to do with sticking it to Paramount for slotting PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 on their precious pre-Halloween weekend.

Memo to Lionsgate and twisted Pictures: Take it like a man. SAW VI had the worst opening weekend of the franchise for a few reasons. PARANORMAL’s phenomenal success had a lot to do with it (don’t think that bitterness doesn’t linger), but isn’t it just possible that people are weary of the lagging series? Now you’ve just screwed Greutert, who I’m sure was excited about this new opportunity, and Hackl, who was heavily into pre-production on SAW VII and now has to find something else to do with his time. I’m sure both of them are going to be very excited to work with you this year…

Well done.
